Christmas Centerpieces - The Evergreen Tree

Stephanie Smith

Christmas is an exciting time for decorating, and a great excuse to try something new! Whether you're making your own or buying one, there are so many possibilities for Christmas centerpieces. Traditionally we decorate evergreen trees with lights and ornaments and pile gifts under their boughs, but why not use a small evergreen tree as a centerpiece for your Christmas table?

One of the great things about this centerpiece is its versatility. As long as you regularly water your tree it should last all throughout the Christmas season, unlike fresh flowers, and you can change it's accessories as often as you want. The scent from the living tree will also add a festive feeling to your home.

Start with a small potted evergreen tree. If you want, set the pot into a slightly larger but more decorative pot or bowl. If you're happy with this look, then you're done! Otherwise, dress up your tree with a few small ornaments.

Some ideas include adding a ribbon bow to the top of the tree where a star or angel would be on a larger Christmas tree. Or add a few small ornaments to some of the branches. Small decorative birds are also a great touch. You could also use an old beaded necklace as a garland, and use some dangling earrings on the branches. Small candy canes are a great touch as well.

Rummage through your box of Christmas ornaments for any small decorations for your pint-sized Christmas tree centerpiece, and have fun changing them often! This is also a great decoration for a side table or even a coffee table. For an added festive touch, put the tree on a platter and add some small faux gifts on the platter around the tree, with a small teddy bear just waiting to open them! You can make your own miniature Christmas scene.

This is one idea that you can have a lot of creative fun with. Enjoy decorating your Christmas centerpiece over and over again, changing it up for each party and the age of your guests. And don't forget to take some time during the busy holiday season to sit back and watch your beautiful little tree grow.
